Music for Famine Relief

faminereliefconcertposter On Thursday 15th September 2011, the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, in the beautiful setting of St. Andrew’s Metropolitan Cathedral, the Spirit of Life Youth Choir (SLYC) performed Josquin Des Prez’s Stabat Mater and Faure’s Messe Basse, amongst other pieces. Joined by the Capriccio String Quartet, the evening’s programme also included Brandenburg Concerto No.3 and work by Handel. The recital was a benefit concert for SCIAF’s work in the Horn and East of Africa, with all of the money going towards famine relief – in the true spirit of the choir with a difference that makes a difference.

The choir was joined by two of Cappella Nova’s tenors – Malcolm Bennett and Joseph Doody.
